Raspe – De verrezen Gulliver; behelzende de zonderlinge reizen en avonturen, van den baron van Munchhausen, in Rusland, Ysland, Turkije, Egipte, etc., etc., te Huaheine bij Omai, Landsdrukker, 1790; xvi, 222,2 with 8 full page engravings, sound contemporary hard paper binding with marbled boards. The name and place of the publisher are fake; neither the place nor the publisher ever existed, however, on his 2nd voyage James Cook brought a man from Tahiti to London whose name was Omai, coming from a town named Huahine who, of course, was the talk of the town.
Extremely rare, since the registration of book auction prices in 1950, this is the only copy ever to have appeared at auction up till now (Beijers, Utrecht, 1977). Now in the possession of the Münchhausen - Bibliothek.
Translated into Dutch after the 5th English edition.
